The University of Oulu's Electronics and Communications Engineering programme covers mathematics, physics and signal processing together with electronics design, computer engineering and programming, measurement techniques, electronics components and materials, and telecommunications. The bachelor's studies build professional competence from the first year. After the bachelor's stage, students choose one study option and continue with related advanced studies and optional studies.
The programme lasts five years. The bachelor's degree includes basic and intermediate studies, a supplementary module and optional studies, and a bachelor's thesis. The master's degree includes one option module, a related advanced module, optional studies, a mandatory practical training period and a master's thesis.
The programme is designed to prepare students for specialist and multidisciplinary expert roles and for further research. The master's degree is a qualification for doctoral studies.
