Finance, Master of Science (Economics and Business Administration)

Aalto University’s Master’s Programme in Finance covers corporate finance, alternative investment, mergers and acquisitions, behavioural finance, sustainability, fixed income, entrepreneurial finance, fintech, and financial econometrics. Students can also choose minor and elective studies from other disciplines, including economics, accounting, analytics and data science, and financial engineering.

The programme is a two-year, 120 ECTS degree taught in English through contact teaching. It includes 84 ECTS of programme studies, which contain the master’s thesis and seminar, and 36 ECTS of elective studies. Students may complete minor studies at an official exchange programme partner of the School of Business, and they can also take a minor or individual courses from other Aalto Schools.

Aalto University says the programme is suitable for applicants from finance and from other fields, including engineering and computer science. It also says the degree provides preparation for PhD studies.

Aalto University states that applicants do not need a bachelor’s degree in finance. Applicants with bachelor’s degrees outside finance or outside business are also encouraged to apply. A background in engineering, computer science, or another field can also be a good fit.
