Industrial Design Engineering, Master's Programme (2 years), Lahti

This master’s programme provides knowledge and working methods in production engineering, industrial design and material development. It covers innovative design, manufacturing methods, human factors, creative problem solving, advanced materials, industrial and business challenges, and environmental considerations.

The programme uses project courses in which students apply their knowledge in practice. It includes multidisciplinary project work and theoretical and methodological courses integrated into projects with regional companies. Students learn concept visualisation, CAD modelling, product development, and the selection of materials in production.

LUT says the programme develops the ability to design products from simple stationary products to vehicles and to consider production processes and manufacturing possibilities. It also develops skills in design for manufacturing, sustainability, creativity in design, consumer behaviour and value addition through new industrial techniques.
