Design for the Planet is a 60 ECTS Master of Culture and Arts at LAB University of Applied Sciences. It focuses on design thinking, systems thinking, visual thinking and evidence-based development for sustainable transitions. The programme is based on meaningful, sufficiency and place-based design, and it prepares students to form and analyse arguments and to lead co-design research with customers, users and employees.
The degree is conducted online as a part-time learning opportunity and is taught in English. Teaching includes online sessions, project-based work in student teams and independent study. The thesis is 30 ECTS and is carried out as development research, with online thesis seminars and individual mentoring. There is no practical trainee period in the studies.
LAB University of Applied Sciences says the programme is for professionals with development work interests in applying design thinking to environmental and social sustainability. It leads to management and development roles in sustainable businesses and organisations, and graduates can also work as in-house developers or consulting entrepreneurs.
