Cell Technology is a specialisation in Tampere University’s Master of Science in Biomedical Technology. The programme covers cell technology, cell and tissue models, tissue engineering for regenerative medicine, human development, tissue biology and human stem cell-based applications. It also brings together biology, chemistry, medicine, genetics, statistics, computational and data sciences.
The degree takes 2 years and is taught in English as contact teaching. The curriculum consists of general studies, advanced studies, elective studies, free-choice studies and a master’s thesis. All specialisation options include methodological studies. The thesis is an individual 30 ECTS project based on experimental or computational research under a supervisor, and there is an optional 10 ECTS research component and a 2 ECTS thesis seminar.
The programme is intended for students with a background in biological, computational or mathematical sciences. In the Cell Technology option, applicants should have previous studies in cell biology and culture of mammalian cells. Graduates may work in research and development, academia, teaching, sales and marketing, or continue to a PhD.
