The Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging trains students in imaging methods and technologies. It covers light microscopy, advanced fluorescence techniques, super-resolution imaging techniques, electron microscopy, nuclear imaging and magnetic resonance imaging. It also includes bioimage informatics analysis techniques, related IT skills and statistical analysis.
The programme is a two-year full-time degree with contact teaching. Students gain hands-on experience in laboratory and practical research work with analysis and evaluation in projects that include imaging components. Depending on the advanced studies specialisation, students build basic to advanced knowledge and skills in medical imaging, microscopy or data analysis. The programme is jointly administered by Åbo Akademi University and the University of Turku.
Åbo Akademi University says the programme is intended for students with a B.Sc. degree in biochemistry, bioinformatics, biology, biomedical sciences, chemistry, computational biology, engineering, medical sciences, pharmacology or physics.
