Geoinformatics, Master of Science (Technology)

The Master’s programme in Geoinformatics at Aalto University is a two-year, 120-ECTS Master of Science (Technology) degree. It focuses on geoinformatics, with study areas that include geodesy, photogrammetry, laser scanning, remote sensing, and geoinformation technologies.

The degree structure includes 60 credits in major studies, 30 credits of elective courses, and a 30-credit master’s thesis. The major studies include compulsory and optional major subject courses. The thesis is applied research or theoretical research based on existing scientific knowledge.

Aalto University says the programme prepares graduates for work in academia and industry, and for further doctoral study. It also says the programme has strong connections with industry, cities, municipalities, and research institutes, and that the Project Course uses topics from stakeholders.
