Molecular Biology, Biomedical Technology, Master of Science

The programme covers biomedical technology with a focus on human health. In the Molecular Biology specialisation, students study molecular mechanisms in healthy and diseased cells, molecular genetics, genomics and proteomics, protein structure, molecular interactions, and organelle biology.

The two-year Master of Science comprises 120 ECTS credits and is taught in English through contact teaching. The curriculum includes general studies, advanced studies, elective studies, a master’s thesis, free-choice studies, and a methodological studies module. The thesis is an individual 30 ECTS project based on experimental or computational research, with an optional 10 ECTS research component and a 2 ECTS thesis seminar.

The programme is intended for students with a background in biosciences, computational sciences or natural sciences, especially those with a Bachelor’s degree in biological, computational or mathematical sciences. It prepares students for further doctoral study and for work in research, academia, biotechnology, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

The programme is intended for students with a Bachelor’s degree in biological, computational or mathematical sciences. For the Molecular Biology specialisation, students should have a solid foundation in biochemistry, genetics, cell biology and laboratory techniques, along with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
