The Master of Science in Software Engineering and Information Systems focuses on AI and software products, information systems, and user-centred digital transformation. The programme covers software development approaches for new systems and services, participatory design, user-centred design, value co-creation, user-driven innovation, human interaction in information technology, and the use of information systems and services in organisations and everyday activities.
The degree is 120 ECTS credits and takes two years. Sixty credits are common studies, including a research and development project, research methods, project work and a master's seminar. The chosen orientation is 30 credits, followed by at least one 10-credit specialisation subject. The master's thesis is 30 credits and can be completed for a company or a research project. The programme includes elective studies worth 20 credits.
University of Oulu says the degree prepares graduates for work as software and ICT experts or managers in a global company or other organisation. It also leads to doctoral studies in the same field.
