Communications and Data Science is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programme in Information and Communication Technologies. Aalto University says the course covers timely industry topics relevant to modern fields of engineering. The first year includes general studies, mathematics, programming, security, communications and data science. The second year includes specialisation studies and a thesis, with specialisations in communications, automation, machine learning, security, internet of things, 5G/6G, and related data science areas.
The programme lasts two years and is taught in English as contact teaching. Students study at least two partner universities in two countries. The structure gives 60 ECTS in the first year and 30 ECTS plus a 30 ECTS thesis in the second year. Students on the programme receive a double degree from the two universities where they complete 60 ECTS, including the thesis.
Aalto University says the programme qualifies for doctoral studies in an applicable field. It also says students study in multicultural groups and define a personal study plan with an academic advisor at the start of the programme.
