Dance Pedagogy, Master of Arts (Dance)

The Master’s Programme in Dance Pedagogy treats art pedagogy as artistic activity in which pedagogical questions are always present. It focuses on the relation between art, performance and teaching, and on the aesthetic, ethical and political issues that arise in those encounters.

The programme includes advanced studies in the arts, studies in the theory and practices of art pedagogy, research studies, teaching practices, international interaction and elective studies. The degree requirements include pedagogical studies for teachers. Tampere University is in charge of the pedagogy study module as a whole.

University of the Arts Helsinki says the programme aims to train art pedagogue professionals with their own voice, cooperation skills and a sense of responsibility. It also emphasises continuous professional development, reflection and the ability to plan, justify and evaluate art pedagogy.
