Education for Global Futures, Master of Arts (Education)

Education for Global Futures and Leadership is a two-year international Master of Arts programme in education offered jointly by the University of Oulu and Tallinn University. It combines educational research, futures thinking, leadership studies, ethics, social justice, decoloniality, intercultural learning and educational transformation.

The programme is research-based and student-centred. Teaching uses contact teaching in Oulu, independent learning, online teaching and blended teaching. Students take part in interactive lectures, exercises, group work, project work, literature analysis, learning assignments and practice. The master's thesis is 30 ECTS and is usually developed during the second year.

The degree is designed for students who want to re-imagine education with a commitment to social justice, decolonial thinking and ethical reflection. The degree gives eligibility for doctoral studies and does not give a teacher’s qualification.
