About this program

Nordic Master in Visual Studies and Art Education (NoVA) is a double degree programme between Aalto University and Aalborg University. It leads to a Master of Arts (Art and Design). Students study Nordic practices and traditions in art education, visual culture, and cultural work. The programme also covers art, education, digital communication, and entrepreneurship.

The degree lasts two years. Students spend one year at each university and complete compulsory mobility in the second year. Teaching is in English and uses contact teaching. The programme combines joint courses delivered online and in person with project modules. It includes three study tracks in the second year: Internship, Visual Project, and Theoretical Project.

Aalto University says the degree gives eligibility for doctoral studies. It is open to international students.
