Tampere University’s Teaching, Learning and Media Education Master of Arts (Education) is a two-year programme focused on education for a sustainable digital future. It covers media education, digital literacies, game-based learning, educational technology and inclusive education. The programme also considers education from the perspectives of technology-enhanced learning, instruction, media studies and educational psychology.
The studies are divided into orientation and general studies, advanced studies, and free choice studies. Orientation and general studies include Introduction to Degree Studies, Study Skills and Personal Study Planning, Thesis Writing, and Finnish Languages Courses. Advanced studies include Foundations of Teaching, Learning and Media Education, Designing Engaging Learning Experiences, Media Education, Digital Literacies, Game-based Learning, Research Methods, and Master’s Thesis. Students can choose free choice studies from the Tampere University community, including one of the working life courses, and apply theoretical knowledge in a practical work context in Finland or abroad.
Graduates gain an extensive understanding of the relationships between teaching and learning in a media-saturated society. The programme also qualifies graduates to apply for doctoral study programmes, including the Doctoral Programme in Education and Society at Tampere University.
