Aalto University’s Electronics and Nanotechnology Master’s Programme covers wireless technologies, nanotechnology, semiconductors, photonics, and space technology. Students study microelectronic circuit design, microwave engineering, photonics and nanotechnology, space science and technology, and wireless and RF engineering. The programme combines theoretical and practical courses and uses lectures, independent exercises, computer simulations, group assignments, and laboratory work.
The degree takes two years and totals 120 ECTS credits. Students begin with introductive common studies and then common compulsory studies in their chosen major in the first spring semester. The second year is mainly for elective studies and the master’s thesis. Students can choose electives from Aalto and from other universities in Finland and abroad. Depending on the major, studies may include work in laboratories, cleanrooms, and an astronomical radio observatory.
Aalto University says the programme is closely connected to current research and industry. It offers exchange study options, practical training or thesis work outside Finland, and industry projects with guest lecturers. The programme also provides eligibility for scientific postgraduate studies in Finland.
