Interior Architecture, Master of Arts (Art and Design)

Interior Architecture, Master of Arts (Art and Design) at Aalto University focuses on the design of immediate interior and exterior environments. The programme covers spatial, material and technological means, and it links interior architecture with human culture, needs, aspirations, bodily experience and the senses.

The master's major is based on design-based problem setting, elaboration and solving. Students work in project-based, hands-on learning, with artistic and experimental approaches supported by analytical, research-driven methods. Studio-based courses in spatial design and furniture design form the core, alongside history, theory and methodology of interior architecture, practical design skills and tools, selective courses and a minor. The final year includes a master's thesis on a chosen topic.
