Cold Climate Engineering (Nordic Master), Master of Science (Technology)

Cold Climate Engineering is a two-year Nordic Master programme leading to the Master of Science (Technology) degree at Aalto University. It focuses on engineering for Arctic conditions, including fragile ecosystems, challenging weather and scarce infrastructure.

The programme is organised as a double degree with Aalto, DTU and NTNU. Your track determines where you study. The Sea Track covers Arctic ships and offshore structures, with Arctic field work, laboratory work at Aalto Ice Tank and numerical modelling. The Space Track covers Earth observation, mapping and navigation in the Arctic, with a course in Greenland and the possibility to write the master thesis in collaboration with industry.

Aalto University describes the programme as a foundation for doctoral studies and post-doc positions. It also says graduates are prepared for work in the Arctic environment and in industries that need specialised Arctic competence.
