Creative Sustainability, Master of Arts (Art and Design)

The Master’s Programme in Creative Sustainability (CS) is an interdisciplinary programme in design, business, and materials and chemical engineering. It focuses on sustainability as a design perspective and on creative design practice for sustainability.

The two-year programme has 120 ECTS credits. It is organised into compulsory joint Creative Sustainability studies, compulsory studies in design, elective studies, and a master’s thesis. The pedagogy is based on integrating teaching and research, problem-based learning, and practical outcomes. Students can include studies completed at other universities or other modules from Aalto University in their personal study plans.

Aalto University describes three tracks in the programme, organised through separate intake processes in the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, the School of Business, and the School of Chemical Engineering. The degree grants eligibility for doctoral studies.
