Data Science, Bachelor and Master

The Data Science major in Aalto University’s Bachelor’s Programme in Science and Technology covers mathematics, programming, machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical inference, process optimisation, information sciences and computer science. Students study topics such as optimisation, human-computer interaction, computation, algorithmic techniques, supervised machine learning and data mining.

The programme is taught in English through contact teaching and is planned as a five-year bachelor’s and master’s route. The bachelor’s degree is 180 ECTS credits and combines basic studies, the Data Science major, a minor and elective studies. The major includes the bachelor’s thesis and seminar. The programme also offers opportunities to study abroad, do practical training abroad, take a summer course abroad, or work as a tutor for first-year students.

Aalto University says the major prepares students for further master’s study in Aalto University and for work in data science and related fields.
