Game Design and Development is a major in the Master of Arts (Art and Design) at Aalto University. It focuses on game design and development, from prototyping to playable products. The programme covers topics such as level design, game balancing, games user research, industry trends, and game design psychology.
The degree is 120 ECTS credits and takes two years. It is organised around a major, a possible minor, elective studies, and a master's thesis. Aalto University says the major uses a hands-on with minds-on approach. Students work in multidisciplinary teams, and Game Project I & II include pitching, designing, developing, and publishing games.
